A workout is missing or exertion looks too low

Find a missing workout in Titan and fix a low Exertion score by checking Apple Health, permissions, sources, heart rate, and the Exertion cache.

Published September 24, 2026

Titan builds Exertion from the workouts in Apple Health and the heart rate recorded during them. A workout that never reached Health, or one with no heart rate, counts for little or nothing. Work through these checks in order.

Settings is reached from the avatar on Today, then You > Settings.

011. Check the workout is in Apple Health

Open the Health app and confirm the session is listed. Titan reads workouts only from Health. It watches Health for new workouts and refreshes shortly after one arrives. Titan counts a workout on the day it started, so a session that ran past midnight belongs to the earlier day.

022. Check Health access

Settings > Health & Connected Apps > Health Permissions opens iOS Settings for Titan. Turn on Workouts and Heart Rate. Health permissions lists every type Titan reads.

033. Check your workout sources

Go to Settings > Health & Connected Apps > Data Sources & Integrations > HealthKit Sources > Workouts. If the recording app is off under Allowed Sources, Titan skips it. Tap Reset to All Sources.

044. Check the workout has heart rate

Titan counts heart rate zone time only inside recorded workouts. Each minute in zone 1 adds 1 load point, and each minute in zone 5 adds 5. Heart rate under Outside Workouts in the zones detail does not add to Exertion.

When no workout that day has any zone time, Titan falls back to duration. Each minute counts once, scaled by activity type.

Activity typeLoad per minute
Run, walk, cycle, swim, row, hike, elliptical, stairs1.0
HIIT0.95
Strength and cross training0.9
Yoga and mind and body0.65
Other with distance0.95
Other0.8
Other renamed to a sauna or steam label0.5

Exertion equals 10 times one minus e to the power of negative load over 100. A 60 minute run with no heart rate gives 60 load points and an Exertion of 4.5. The same run spent entirely in zone 3 gives 180 points and an Exertion of 8.3.

The fallback applies to the whole day. If one workout has heart rate and another has none, the second adds nothing. Watch-based workouts covers recording sessions with heart rate.

055. Clear the Exertion cache

Titan reuses a day's zone totals for up to 30 minutes, so late heart rate can take that long to count. For older days, go to Settings > Health & Connected Apps > Resync & Troubleshooting and tap Clear Exertion Cache. Titan recalculates Exertion, Training Load and Sleep Debt from Apple Health. The rebuild covers 60 to 150 days, based on Number of Workouts in Settings > Training & Heart Rate. At the default of 3,000 workouts it covers 150 days.

A missing record does not mean you did zero work. Titan scores only what Health recorded. If a workout still does not appear, send details through the contact page.
