Recovery score missing or looks wrong

Fix a missing or odd Recovery score in Titan by checking baseline coverage, Health access, HRV source, RMSSD, and the Recovery cache.

Recovery needs today's HRV, today's resting heart rate, and enough history to build your baseline. Work through these causes in order. The first two explain most missing or strange scores.

Settings is reached from the avatar on Today, then You > Settings.

011. Your baseline is still filling

Titan scores Recovery against your own history over the Recovery window you picked in onboarding. The full model needs HRV and resting heart rate on at least 60% of the days in that window, and never fewer than 7 days.

Until you reach that count, Titan shows a rough starter score. It averages your HRV in milliseconds, capped at 100, with a heart rate score that starts at 100 at 40 bpm and drops 2 points per beat above that. An HRV of 45 ms and a resting heart rate of 60 bpm give 52. Titan switches to the full model once coverage is met.

022. Today has no HRV or resting heart rate

If either reading is missing for today, Recovery stays blank. Wear your watch to bed so it records HRV during sleep. Then check that Titan can read HRV and resting heart rate at Settings > Health & Connected Apps > Health Permissions, which opens iOS Settings for Titan. If HRV itself is the gap, see HRV not showing.

033. The score changes during the day

Open Settings > Recovery & Sleep > Recovery Preferences. With Prioritize Sleep or Mindfulness HRV on, the default, Titan picks the HRV for Recovery in this order.

  1. HRV from a Mindfulness session before noon.
  2. The average HRV from your last sleep.
  3. The average of all HRV from the last 24 hours.

Turning the toggle off makes Titan use all HRV, so the score moves with every new reading. Turn Ignore Mindfulness App HRV on if you use the Mindfulness app for reasons unrelated to HRV. Turn Enable Titan to Save Resting Heart Rates on to keep the first Recovery score Titan saves for the day.

044. You switched to RMSSD

Use RMSSD for HRV reads beat-to-beat data. It needs the Heartbeat Series permission in Apple Health. Without it, HRV and Recovery can go blank. After you change the HRV method, clear the Recovery cache as in step 5.

055. Past scores look stale

Go to Settings > Health & Connected Apps > Resync & Troubleshooting and tap Clear Recovery Cache. Titan recalculates Recovery, Sleep, Stress and Battery from Apple Health for the last 60 to 150 days, scaled to the Number of Workouts setting. Past scores may change. Run Full Resync on the same screen if more than Recovery looks off. Resync and history explains both options.

If the score still looks wrong, send details through the contact page.
