Titan needs at least one HRV reading from Apple Health to show HRV and score Recovery. When HRV is blank, work through the checks below in order.
01Wear your watch to bed
Apple Watch records HRV in the background a few times a day, at times you do not pick. A night of sleep gives it hours of stillness and the best odds of a reading. Titan averages every HRV reading taken during your sleep session and uses that average for Recovery. With no sleep session, Titan falls back to the average of all HRV from that day, or from the last 24 hours for today. A day with no reading at all leaves HRV blank.
02Take a Mindfulness session before noon
A Mindfulness session on Apple Watch records an HRV reading while it runs. With Prioritize Sleep or Mindfulness HRV turned on, which is the default, Titan looks for Mindfulness sessions between midnight and noon before it looks at sleep. It starts from the most recent session and uses the first one that contains an HRV reading. A one-minute session right after you wake covers the mornings your watch missed a reading overnight.
This step does nothing when Ignore Mindfulness App HRV is on. Both toggles live at Settings > Recovery & Sleep > Recovery Preferences. Open Settings from the avatar on Today, then You > Settings.
03Check the RMSSD setting
Use RMSSD for HRV, on the same Recovery Preferences screen, tells Titan to compute RMSSD from beat-to-beat data instead of reading Apple's SDNN value. That data lives in the Heartbeat Series type in Apple Health, and Titan needs read access to it. Titan does not fall back to SDNN. If Heartbeat Series access is off, or your source writes HRV without beat-to-beat data, HRV stays blank.
Turn on the permission or turn off RMSSD. After you change the method, open Settings > Health & Connected Apps > Resync & Troubleshooting and tap Clear Recovery Cache.
04Check your source filters
Settings > Health & Connected Apps > Data Sources & Integrations > HealthKit Sources has a row for HRV. If that row shows a device name or a count instead of All Sources, Titan reads HRV only from the sources you allowed. A new watch is a new source and stays excluded until you allow it. Open the HRV row and tap Reset to All Sources.
The Mindful Minutes row filters Mindfulness sessions the same way. Check it too if you rely on the morning session.
05Confirm Health permission
iOS never tells an app which read permissions you denied, so Titan cannot warn you. In the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps, then Titan. Turn on Heart Rate Variability, Heartbeat Series, and Mindful Minutes. The Health Permissions row at Settings > Health & Connected Apps opens iOS Settings for Titan.
If HRV is still blank after all five checks, reach out through the contact page.
