Titan reads from every app and device that writes to Apple Health unless you tell it otherwise. HealthKit Sources limits each metric to the sources you choose. This article covers where the setting lives, what each control does, and when to change it.
01Where to find it
You reach Settings from the avatar on Today, then You > Settings. Open Settings > Health & Connected Apps > Data Sources & Integrations. Tap HealthKit Sources. The Integrations row next to it holds the direct Oura connection.
02The 10 metrics
HealthKit Sources lists one row per metric.
- Sleep
- Workouts
- HRV
- Resting Heart Rate
- Heart Rate
- Steps
- Active Energy
- Exercise Minutes
- Stand Hours
- Mindful Minutes
Each row shows its current setting on the right. All Sources means Titan reads everything. A source name means you picked a Primary Source or allowed only one source. A count such as 2 Sources means you allowed several.
Exercise Minutes saves a choice, but no Titan score reads Exercise Minutes today, so changing it has no visible effect.
03Which sources appear
Tap a metric to see its sources, sorted by name. Titan builds the list from the newest 500 samples of that metric written in the last 30 days. A source that has not written that metric in 30 days does not appear. Heart Rate is written many times an hour, so a source that writes it rarely may not appear.
Oura also appears when the direct connection is active under Integrations and the metric is one Oura supplies. Those metrics are Sleep, Workouts, HRV, Heart Rate, Steps, Active Energy, and Mindful Minutes. A source you already selected stays on the list even after it stops writing.
If no source has written the metric recently, the screen shows No Sources Yet. Open Health or sync your device, then come back.
04Automatic or a chosen source
Every metric starts on Automatic, with no source allowed. In that state Titan reads all samples from all sources.
Choosing any source changes the rule for that metric. From then on, Titan reads only samples from the sources you allowed. Nothing fills in for a missing day. If your allowed sources recorded nothing on a given day, that day is empty for that metric in Titan.
05Primary Source and Allowed Sources
The detail screen has two controls that set the allowed list.
- Primary Source is a picker with Automatic at the top, followed by each source.
- Allowed Sources has one toggle per source.
Picking a Primary Source also switches that source on under Allowed Sources. Its toggle stays on and locked while it is the primary. To turn it off, set Primary Source back to Automatic first. You can switch on more sources next to the primary, and Titan reads all of them.
If you disconnect Oura under Integrations, Titan removes Oura as the primary and from the allowed list on every metric.
06Duplicate Handling
The detail screen also shows Duplicate Handling, with Prefer Primary, Most Recent, and Highest Quality. Prefer Primary is the default. Titan saves your pick, but no query applies it yet, so it does not change your scores.
07Reset to All Sources
Reset to All Sources sets Primary Source to Automatic, clears every allowed source, and puts Duplicate Handling back to Prefer Primary. The metric returns to reading every source. Switching every Allowed Sources toggle off with no primary set has the same effect on what Titan reads.
08Sleep has its own tracker setting
Sleep also has a Sleep Tracker choice under Settings > Recovery & Sleep > Sleep Preferences. Once you set a primary or allowed source for Sleep here, Titan ignores Sleep Tracker. Sleep Tracker fills a missed night from other sources, and HealthKit Sources does not. The sleep source article compares the two and explains which to use.
09When to use it
Most people should leave every metric on All Sources. Change one when two sources write the same metric and you trust only one.
- You wear an Apple Watch and an Oura ring and want HRV from only one of them. Set that device as the HRV primary.
- A second app copies your workouts into Health and you see each session twice. Allow only the app that recorded them.
- Your iPhone and your watch both count steps and you want the watch count. Allow only the watch.
After a change, pull to refresh on Today. If a metric goes blank, your allowed sources have no data for that day. Add a source or tap Reset to All Sources. The wearables article shows what Apple Watch, Oura, and Whoop each write to Health.
