The Journal is where you record what happened on a day, such as alcohol, a late meal, or travel, so Titan can compare those days with your Recovery and Sleep. This article covers how to open the Journal, which day it shows first, the 15 built-in tags, where tags are stored, and how the daily reminder works.
01Opening the Journal
The Today screen has no Journal button. You reach the Journal in one of two ways.
- Long press the Titan icon on your Home Screen and choose Journal, the item with the tag icon. The same menu also offers Today and Workouts.
- Open the link
titan://journal. It works from Safari, from a note, or from an Open URLs action in the Shortcuts app.
Both routes open Titan on Today and push the Journal on top of it. Tap Back to return to Today. See quick actions for the full Home Screen menu.
02The day you are tagging
The Journal opens on yesterday, so a morning check-in records the day that just ended. The screen heading reads "Tag What Happened Yesterday".
The date at the top shows the day you are editing, for example "Wednesday, Sep 23". Tap it to open Select Day, pick any date on the calendar, and tap Done. The tags then reload for that date. The heading keeps saying "Yesterday" whichever date you pick, so check the date line before you tag.
03Tagging a day
Each tag is a chip. Tap a chip to add that tag to the selected day. Tap it again to remove it. Titan saves every tap at once, and there is no Save button. A day holds each tag once, so tapping Alcohol twice on the same day does not count two drinks.
Pull down on the screen to reload the tags for the selected day.
04The 15 built-in tags
Every Titan install starts with these tags, in this order.
- Alcohol
- Caffeine
- Job Stress
- Late Meal
- Life Stress
- Massage
- Meditation
- Menstruation
- Nap
- Sexual Activity
- Sickness
- Travel
- Vacation
- Vaccination
- Yoga
Tags you create yourself appear after the built-in ones. Tap + Add/Edit at the bottom of the Journal to create or manage them. Journal tags covers custom tags and deleting tag history.
Titan does not tag days for you. Every tag in your history is one you added by hand.
05Where your tags are stored
Titan saves tags in its own database on your iPhone. They are not written to Apple Health and they are not sent to a server. Deleting Titan deletes its database, which removes your tag history.
06Seeing what your tags do
Tap Journal Insights at the bottom of the Journal to see how tagged days compare with untagged days for Recovery and Sleep. The analysis covers the last 60 days. A tag used on fewer than 3 of those days is listed under Low Confidence. Journal Insights explains the calculation.
07The daily tagging reminder
Titan can send a notification every day at 09:00 titled "Journal Reminder" with the text "Tag yesterday's factors to improve correlation quality." The reminder is off until you turn it on.
- On Today, tap your avatar to open You.
- Tap the bell for Notifications, or go to You > Settings > Notifications.
- Turn on Allow Notifications, and allow notifications in iOS when asked.
- Under Other Notifications, turn on Daily Tagging Reminder.
The in-app description of this toggle mentions a pop-up sheet. Titan sends a standard notification at 09:00 instead. The time is fixed and cannot be changed.
Titan schedules the reminder when the Today screen refreshes. After you turn it on, open Today once so the 09:00 notification gets scheduled. Tapping the notification opens Titan without going to the Journal. From there, use the Home Screen quick action or titan://journal to reach the Journal. If the reminder does not arrive, see notifications.
