Nutrition planning with Fuel

Titan reads what you eat from Apple Health. Fuel, our nutrition app, logs meals and macros and sends them to Titan on its own.

Titan has no food log. It reads what you ate from Apple Health and shows it against what you burned in the Net Energy ring on Today. To plan and log your nutrition, use Fuel, the nutrition app we built to work alongside Titan.

01What Titan needs from a nutrition app

Net Energy subtracts the energy you consumed from the energy you burned. Burned energy comes from your Apple Watch. Consumed energy, protein, carbohydrates, and fat come from whatever app writes dietary records to Apple Health. Any app that writes those records works. Fuel writes all of them, along with micronutrients, water, and caffeine. Net Energy, calories burned and macros explains the ring and its detail screen.

02What Fuel does

Fuel sets your calorie and macro targets from the energy your Apple Watch measures, then corrects those targets against your weight trend so they stay honest as your body changes. You pick a goal of losing fat, maintaining, or building, and set the pace.

Logging is built to be fast. Fuel has an offline food library for search, saved favorites for the meals you eat most, a one-tap quick log from your Apple Watch, and Siri and Shortcuts for logging meals, water, workouts, and weight without opening the app. Unused calories can roll over into tomorrow, and reminders cover meals, water, and weigh-ins. Trends run over 14, 30, and 90 days across every metric it tracks.

03Connect Fuel to Titan

  1. Install Fuel from the App Store and allow it to write Nutrition data to Apple Health when it asks.
  2. In Titan, tap your avatar on Today, then the gear on You to open Settings. Tap Health & Connected Apps > Health Permissions, which opens iOS Settings, and confirm Titan can read Dietary Energy, Protein, Carbohydrates, and Total Fat.
  3. Log a meal in Fuel. Pull down on Today in Titan to refresh, and Net Energy includes the consumed energy.

Titan reads the calories from the dietary energy record and the macros from their own records. These are separate samples in Apple Health, so the calories implied by the macros can differ from the logged calories by a small amount.

04Weigh-ins

Fuel reminds you to weigh in and uses the trend to adjust your targets. Titan reads the same weigh-ins from Apple Health for the Body mass chart on the Net Energy screen. The chart needs weigh-ins on at least two days to show a change.
